One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Penguin wanted a new book cover for Kesey's "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and after researching covers already in circulation, I felt that the most commonly represented themes in the novel were madness and injustice.  What I chose to do differently was try to tell a narrative within a 3-dimensional paper/card scene.  In making the scene out of card it's easy to see the element of madness but without it becoming sinister.  Parts of the novel are a bit quirky, and I have tried to show this element.  When laid out flat the edges do seem distracting, however when folded around a spine they help to bring a separate image to each side of the book.
